How Research Works

Era Progression

The tech tree spans five eras. To unlock a new era, you need to complete a certain number of technologies from the previous era.

Tip: Era 5 technologies are expensive and time-consuming, but each one can dramatically shift the balance of power. Prioritize based on your playstyle — military players want antimatter weapons, builders want megastructures, explorers want the Alcubierre drive and omniscience array.
